I have never tried to open an account in a Malaysian bank but, I have opened bank accounts in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Australia while on vacation and from overseas online and thru the mail many times over the years. All I have ever needed are simple doc's to register myself. I can't imagine it is any different in Malaysia.
Call me naive but I still feel that Thailand is still the Land of Smiles to a large extent - and this extends to sincerity as well. We've traveled to many parts of Thailand; Chang Mai, Korat, Chon Buri, Pattaya, Nong Kai, Chang Rai, Bangkok, Hau Hin and found this to be true - even in the tourist areas. There has been a gradual shift in attitudes the past two years (since 2013), in particular with the younger generation that reflect other western countries and cultures ie materialistic, selfishness and social status obsession. But generally my personal feeling is that Thailand is still innocent and a culturally beautiful place. I am new to this forum and would like to express my sincere appreciation to all current members at how well maintained and helpful the threads are. This is a great community!
