I think the Illocanos used to be head hunters. I've heard there used to be some in Mindanao too as recently as the 1950's, but that is just a rumor. In both cases, they gave up the practice entirely.

If you really want to find some, you may have to go to Kalimantan provice of Indonesia on Borneo. The Dayaks there did some head hunting a few years ago as part of a feud with settlers from other islands.

The elite head hunters are over in Iraq. I heard a rumor that they are relocating to western Mindanao soon.

Only five years late with this reply but for anyone else out there:

Tread carefully if head hunted. There are companies that need specialist help for a given project and dont much care how they fill the gap as long as they get the right person in. There is a difference between 'head-hunted' and 'poached' however.

Be absolutely sure that there will be work after the project has ended. You will be an expensive addition to their workforce and someone will be looking for reasons to lose you.

There are a number of approaches employers (clients) can take: One is to have work that utilises your expertise in which case your employment will continue. The other is to move you to a project where its a case of 'sink or swim'. Ive seen any number of drownings. Going from 'irreplacable' to 'unwanted' takes a lot of handling and no reference from your employer is going to put them in a bad light of give a hint of manipulation.

Ive been lucky in that Ive always managed to land on my feet running. There are plenty of people brighter and sharper than myself that did not do so well.

Yes .. they are ISIS/ISIL in Iraq. If you join the US Army .. you will probably get a chance to hunt for them. Most S/E Asia headhunters retired many years ago.

It is something I thought about actually, i.e. how difficult it will be for my wife to get my pension if she is not a citizen of my country? Even if we are married. I do not have the answer yet.

I wonder how this changes if your wife already became a citizen of your home country? I should think it makes all the difference. It's not something I've thought about to be honest, but now that you've raised the subject. . .

This account relates to registering a marriage at a French embassy, but it probably has close parallels in every Western country.   Once you marry overseas there are very good reasons for registering the marriage with your embassy as soon as possible, an important one being the ramifications if you die suddenly.   With the French embassy, if the husband dies before the registration of the marriage, the wife is legally married in her own country but not in France. If the husband died intestate, as many do, the wife gets nothing in France. It is possible to register the marriage after the death of the husband. This involves collecting all the relevant documents, certifying them, translating them into French, and then submitting them along with a petition to the Prosecutor in France. This Prosecutor handles all cases outside France, so the process takes at least 6 months and usually a year, during which you hear nothing. His decision depends a lot on  the intention of the husband to register the marriage or not, of which there is rarely any written evidence. The husband may have deliberately avoided registering the marriage, or just been lazy. In any case, if the Prosecutor says "Non!" that is final and the wife gets nothing. If he says "Oui!" the husband's assets have most likely already been shared out among his next of kin so there is another long process to reallocate a share of them to the newly registered widow.   If you want your wife to inherit pensions etc in your home country, or outside her country, register the marriage ASAP. It will be difficult enough for her to register the marriage after your death, let alone do it in a language other than English.
